It’s a Birthday!  And we are going to celebrate.

The Ulysses S. Grant Birthplace and The Ulysses S. Grant Boyhood home are celebrating Grant’s 200th anniversary of his Birthday.

Grant was born and reared in Clermont and Brown Counties.  Here is where his family, neighbors, and the abolitionist movement fostered his achievements to join all peoples of the United States in one unified nation.

To celebrate his life we have planned grand events throughout Clermont and Brown County all year.  However the largest group of activities will happen the two weeks surrounding his birthday.

What is going to happen?

April 23rd and 24th

The Grant Birthplace, Pt. Pleasant, Ohio

Grant was born in Pt. Pleasant, Ohio off what is now Highway 52.  A quaint community now, he was born into a bustling industrial area with a main highway, now Highway 52, with a large river port.  Visit the Birthplace that will have lots of family friendly, hands on activities, tours of the birthplace, a cannon display, the Forget-Me-Not Historic Dance Group, and cutting the cake ceremony.

Start your tour in New Richmond, Ohio just a couple miles west of Pt. Pleasant on highway 52.  Parking is scarce in Pt. Pleasant.  Buses will run on the half hour to take visitors to and from the Birthplace.  While you are in New Richmond, visit our restaurants, shops, and stroll the riverfront.  There will be all types of Grant Specials of delicious food and drink. Join us for the Grant Look-Alike Contest at the Bandstand at 2 PM.

The events are free, but don’t forget to put something in our donation boxes to fund the new Visitor Center.

We are going to list just some of the events.  For a complete list and more details visit CCV&CBThe Clermont County Visitors Bureau website.
